Exhibition: Rochelle Feinstein
Date: March 16 – April 27, 2013
Opening: Saturday, March 16, 8 – 10 pm
On Stellar Rays and Higher Pictures are having an exhibition of the highly influential Rochelle Feinstein. The exhibition brings together two bodies of work, Joy Ride from 2000-05 and The Enigma Project from 2012. Feinstein explores how specific vocabularies - often gendered, class-specific and reductive - might influence the understanding of broader socio-cultural issues. Both on the upside and the downside.
On Stellar Rays presented its first solo exhibition with Rochelle Feinstein in 2011, entitled The Estate of Rochelle F. Other recent solo exhibitions include LAB Space/Art Production Fund, New York, NY (2009); Momenta Art, Brooklyn, NY (2008); The Suburban, Chicago, IL (2008). Recent group exhibitions include New Galerie Paris, France (2012); Soloway, Brooklyn, NY (2012); Fredericks & Freiser, New York, NY (2012); International Print Center, New York, NY; (2012); White Flag, St. Louis, MO (2011); Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, TX (2010).
Rochelle Feinstein is the recipient of a Radcliffe Institute Fellowship. Other recent awards and grants include an Anonymous Was A Woman grant, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Fellowship, a Joan Mitchell Foundation grant, and a Foundation for Contemporary Arts grant. Ms. Feinstein received a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute in 1975 and an M.F.A. from the University of Minnesota in 1978.
